“School is one of the educational environments in which we develop through learning how to live, how to become grown-up, mature men and women who can travel, who can follow the road of life. It helps [young people] not only by developing their intelligence, but also by an integral formation of all the aspects of their personality… Jesus is a great teacher, a model of life.” (Pope Francis)

Curriculum Development
Our core values of Love, Respect, and Responsibility create a safe environment where children can inquire and grow in a spirit of wonder and awe. We have built our curriculum to ensure progression, breadth, and depth of both substantive and disciplinary knowledge that children develop over time.
We strive to provide a variety of experiences and cultural capital, enabling our children to acquire the skills, knowledge, and understanding necessary to reach their full potential and contribute positively to society.
Assessment and Retention of Knowledge
We recognise the importance of effective assessment practises in monitoring progress and ensuring retention of knowledge. Our approach includes both formative and summative assessments, aligned with the principles outlined by the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) on meta-cognition. By utilising revisiting of prior learning, quizzes, and clear end points we facilitate the continual revisiting of new skills and knowledge, fostering life-long learning and embedded understanding.
Vocabulary Development and Reading
At St Anne's, we believe that vocabulary development is crucial across the curriculum. Reading is at the heart of learning, and we strive to provide numerous opportunities for reading for pleasure while fulfilling National Curriculum requirements.
St Anne's 5 a Day
Our St Anne's 5 a Day initiative has underpinned our curriculum development. By integrating this framework, we ensure that our children can not only access the curriculum but thrive and ensure they reach their full potential. By celebrating diversity within our school, we ensure that quality teaching and learning allows ALL learners, including those with SEND, to achieve their full potential academically, spiritually, and socially.

Metacognition and Self-regulated Learning
Evidence suggests the use of metacognitive strategies which get pupils to think about their own learning can be worth the equivalent of an additional +7 months progress when used well. This guidance report reviews the best available research to offer teachers and senior leaders practical advice on how to develop their pupils’ metacognitive skills and knowledge. We have used the findings of this report to inform the development of our Curriculum. Please use the link to find out more.
Teacher Feedback to Improve Pupil Learning
All school leaders understand the importance of providing meaningful feedback. Done well, it supports pupil progress, building learning, addressing misunderstandings, and thereby closing the gap between where a pupil is and where the teacher wants them to be.
This guidance report aims to focus on what really matters: the principles of good feedback.
The guidance report is based on the best available international evidence, in addition to a review of current practice, and refined through consultation with teachers and other experts.
