Year 6 Recommended Reading Books
The following list contains 40 titles for children aged 10-11 in KS2 of primary school. These age-appropriate reading-for-pleasure recommendations for UKS2 students consist of a variety of fiction and nonfiction books for all ability ranges and interests. The books in this list are reviewed termly and include stories by Jamila Gavin, Onjali Rauf, Jasbinder Bilan, David Almond, Lara Williamson, JRR Tolkien, Michelle Magorian, Maz Evans, Zizou Corder, Nina Bawden and more.

Home Learning
Spellings
Spellings will be taught for 1 hour per week. To reinforce their learning, children are encouraged to regularly access Spelling Shed and complete the assigned tasks and games.
Reading books
We will have whole class reading 4 times per week.
In year 6, your child can change their reading book on a Friday or sooner if they have finished their current reading book.
We ask that, in year 6, children are reading for at least 20 minutes every night. This could be their reading books, their own books, comics, newspapers or readtheory.org
Please sign reading diaries at least 3 times per week.
Homework
Every week, children will be expected to read and complete any additional homework set. Homework will be given out on Friday and needs be returned the following Thursday.
Please encourage your children to be organised, read regularly at home, practise their spellings and times tables, complete their homework and have pride in their education!
