St Anne's Climate Action Plan
At St Anne's RC , caring for creation is central to our Catholic faith and our mission as a school community. Inspired by Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’, we are committed to caring for our common home and acting justly for the good of others, especially the poorest and most vulnerable.
In response to this calling, and in line with the Department for Education’s guidance on Sustainability Leadership and Climate Action Plans, we have developed a Climate Action Plan that sets out how we will reduce our carbon emissions, live more sustainably, and respond responsibly to the challenges of climate change.
This work is closely aligned with our Laudato Si’ Team, who have been working behind the scenes to create an action plan as part of their journey towards the Live Simply Award. The Live Simply Award encourages us to reflect on and take action through three key principles of Catholic Social Teaching:
Living Simply, Living Sustainably, and Living in Solidarity with others.
Through prayer, learning, and practical action, we are already beginning to put our plans into practice — from caring for our environment and reducing waste, to standing in solidarity with those most affected by climate change. Our Climate Action Plan and Live Simply work come together to ensure that sustainability is not just something we learn about, but something we live out every day as an expression of our faith.
By working together as a school community, we hope to be faithful stewards of God’s creation and to help build a more just, peaceful, and sustainable world for future generations.
