This role is to serve as a member of The Laudato Si committee is to support the Catholic mission of the school and to deliver the Pope’s message.

• Pupils have to write a letter of application to the Mrs Wainwright stating why they would make a good Laudato Si Ambassador.
• Pupils are given the opportunity to invite along non-teaching staff and governors to join their meetings to help them with a particular topic they have chosen to work on.
• The committee meets at least once every half term.
• Pupils share responsibility with adults for running meetings and keeping a record of the meetings.
• Minutes are displayed on our Laudato Si’ Board.
• Reports of your Laudato Si’ meetings are made available to the Board of Governors.
• Pupil representatives ensure that there is communication to and from the Laudato Si’ Committee to the rest of the school.

Well done to our Laudato Si' Team on winning the overall award in recognition of their outstanding commitment to Pope Francis' message of caring for our common home and promoting the common good.

To be selected as the overall winners from more than 130 schools across the Salford Diocese is an incredible achievement and a testament to the team's dedication, enthusiasm and hard work throughout the year.

As part of our Laudato Si’ Live Simply action plan, we held a special assembly today all about Fairtrade. We learned how choosing Fairtrade products helps farmers and workers around the world get a fair price for their crops and a better chance to look after their families. Our school kitchen team, Laudato Si and Reception class worked together to bake delicious cakes and cookies made with Fairtrade ingredients, which we sold at breaktime. All the money raised will go to the Fairtrade Foundation, helping farmers and their communities live and work with fairness and dignity. Did you know that Fairtrade supports over 1.8 million farmers and workers in 71 countries and makes sure things like bananas, chocolate, and coffee are grown in ways that care for people and the planet? By choosing Fairtrade, we can all make a big difference with even the smallest snack!

We raised £121.06 for the Fairtrade Foundation!

Last year, we revamped our KS1 and KS2 toilets, which made us reflect on how fortunate we are to have safe and hygienic facilities. Inspired by the Year 6 visit to Robinwood, where they participated in the toilet twinning campaign, we decided to embark on a similar initiative. The children selected a toilet to twin with one in Nigeria, and we are now aiming to raise an additional £60 to twin a toilet in the KS1 area with one in Pakistan. 

We have our first meeting week commencing 23rd September in which we will continue to discuss our live simply action plan and plan ahead for this academic year.

In November, City of Trees came to school and helped us plant over 740 trees in our school grounds. We have planted shrubs and bushes to reduce pollution from Greenacres Road and the surrounding area, we have planted a prayer woodland with a dedicated prayer space in the middles, and also planted fruit trees so we can grow our ow food and live sustainably and simply.

In September, some members of the Laudato Si and other children from school took part in a gardening club in which we have planted a wild flower meadow to attract bees and wildlife into our school grounds and planted some fresh herbs and strawberry plants in our prayer garden.

This year we have been very busy. As a new pupil leadership group our aim was to ensure that more children at St Anne’s knew the importance of their actions on our world. We kick started the year with an assembly to introduce ourselves and what the Laudato Si committee is all about.
